Update for ACMA Compliance

May 29 2012

Revised commencement date for changes to the ACMA labelling arrangements (RCM)

The ACMA is consolidating the three existing compliance marks (C-Tick, A-Tick and RCM) into a single compliance mark – the RCM. This will indicate a device’s compliance with all applicable ACMA regulatory arrangements – that is, for telecommunications, radiocommunications, EMC and EME – and with applicable State and Territory electrical equipment safety requirements.

The commencement of the new ACMA arrangements has been postponed until 1 March 2013. The delay is to align with the revised commencement date for the Electrical Regulatory Authorities Council (ERAC) Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS).

The ACMA arrangements will commence on 1 March 2013, with existing suppliers having 3 years to register on the new database, and all devices labelled from 1 March 2016 required to bear the RCM. A device that has been labelled with the A-Tick or C-Tick prior to 1 March 2016 can still be supplied to the market.

The current ACMA labelling arrangements apply until the commencement date.
